What builds strong bonds between adults and children?
Simple interactions.
What encourages these interactions?
Find out tomorrow night at a Simple Interactions workshop. The details:
The Power of Simple Interactions
Wednesday, September 18th 6:30-8:00 pm
East Somerville Community School Auditorium
50 Cross Street, Somerville, MA 02145
As we’ve blogged, Simple Interactions is an initiative developed by Junlei Li, the Saul Zaentz senior lecturer in early childhood education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Tomorrow’s workshop will feature Li and Dana Winters, the Director of Simple Interactions and Academic Programs at the Fred Rogers Center, where Li formerly worked. The Fred Rogers Center has posted more details about Simple Interactions here.
The flyer for tomorrow’s event explains:
“This is an interactive and practice-focused workshop to appreciate and promote simple, everyday interactions between educators and young children. By the end of this session, you will have practical ideas for how to improve your interactions and strengthen your relationships with both the children and adults in your early learning setting.”
“We will discuss how these interactions weave together four basic building blocks of the human relationship – connection, reciprocity, inclusion, and opportunity to grow – to make positive developmental impacts. We will also extend these principles to reflect on the ‘parallel processes’ of adult-adult interactions that support professionals and families.”
This promises to be an exciting opportunity, so please check it out.
Thanks very much for posting this presentation. It is wonderful and so valuable to consider in today’s hectic world. I am hoping to share some of this post (with appropriate credit) during a Title I parent gathering soon.
